Meet our medieval Mistresses from Montague Heritage Services, as they prepare and preserve foods from medieval Dublin. Using replica cookware and utensils, authentic recipes will be demonstrated and visitors will be shown the traditional preparations of a medieval meal. Find out what it meant to have a square meal, how important salt was and why you should keep an eye on the bread served to you. Step close and smell all the aromas of Dublin past.
Come and see medieval cookery in all its finest!
What kind of table manners did they have in medieval times and what it was like seated at a banquet?! What kind of Medieval Foods dictated your status – from lord to servant?
Finally, find out more about cooking pottage, white meats, cold dried food, and breads and how food was preserved; remember there were no fridges back then!
All this and more on Saturday and Sunday, the 18th and 19th of March from 11am.
No booking is necessary, all included in your admission price to Dublinia.
