Did you know that in the Viking Age a number of different types of weapons were used by the Vikings in battle, they included swords, axes, bows and arrows, lances and spears. The Vikings also used various aids to protect themselves in combat: shields, helmets, and chain mail
You can find out all about these weapons, how heavy they were, and even try some on, in our exciting weapons demonstration by our weapons expert, Claoimh! They will also tell you all about arms and armour in Ireland c. 795 – 1171, and as well as weapons, you’ll see the skills and tactics used for each one. Finally, get a chance to see a range of domestic Viking goods including unique Irish Hiberno-Norse buckles, jewellery, hack silver and Dublin coins die.
