Course Outline
The Dublinia Cultural and Heritage programme, delivered in collaboration with the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB,) is a QQI Level 5 Major award. The programme combines training and work experience over 11 months. There are nine certified modules including; History, Archaeology and Heritage. Participants benefit from familiarisation trips to other heritage sites around Ireland, work experience in Dublinia Heritage Centre, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and a site of the learners choice. The programme is intensive and rewarding for the learner providing the practical experience and knowledge needed for employment in the Heritage and Tourism industry. On completion successful graduates have gained employment in the tourism industry and/or progressed to further studies.
Course Aims & Content
Certified Modules: Local History, Heritage, Folklore and Ethnology, Appreciation of Irish Culture, Work Experience, Archaeology, Communications, Customer Service, First Aid and Manual Handling. Learners also participate in weekly French classes with a French tutor.
Course Duration
The course is full time running for 50 weeks. The hours are 9.00 – 4.30 pm Monday – Friday with weekend work and bank holidays included during work experience.
Course Fees:
If entitled, successful applicants will receive a weekly allowance as per the CDETB training Allowance. There are no charges or fees for this programme.
Course Start Date:
There are 12 places available for each programme. Start dates: 14/10/2019 and 17/02/2020.
